haven't you always wanted to?

So in order to get something rolling here, we felt that there needed to be a little brainstorming action going on.  Live like a spy has been live for a while but sitting on the back-burner.  It’s time to make stuff happen!

If you were dreaming up a way to live like a spy what would be on your top 5 list of things to do?

  • Where would you go?
  • What would you drive?
  • What gadget would you want?
  • What gourmet food and drinks would you taste?
  • Which girls would be by your side?

Lets get some feedback going and see what the crew can do to see what’s possible! We want to hear about your crazy gadget ideas,  the food that you think the top fantasy spies dive into and where in the world you would be spending your time on the road?

It’s likely following are going to be on a lot of lists.  Aston Martins, Caviar, the Bahamas, and Vesper Lynd.  What about some far off destination not in one of the movies below.  Or what do you think people are really eating and driving in the spy world if they aren’t in a fiction film?  How about something you’d like to see in an upcoming film that hasn’t been done before or needs to be redone?  Let’s get these thoughts on ‘paper!’

So these may not be everyone’s favourites and it’s arguable which is better than the other.  And I Know that some would say there are better ‘films’ out there.  But on my watch,  for enjoyment, thrills and everything that makes you say I want to ‘live like a spy‘  these films are the greatest.

1.  James Bond – Casino Royale (2006 Daniel Craig)  The action, suspense, romance, the pure ‘James Bond’ of this film is just collasal.  I grew up on Bond (from the early age of 6 with ‘Never Say Never Again’)  and I was dubias that this new Bond had it in him but I was happily mistaken when this show hit the screens and rocked my socks off. I love other Bonds, but I’ve enjoyed this one the most! For the complete set check out the Complete James Bond Collection

2. The Bourne Trilogy -  (2002 – 2007 Matt Damon)  Yes,  all of them :P   I can’t separate the awesomeness.

3. Spy Game (2001 Brad Pitt, Rober Redford) “It’s not how you play the game. It’s how the game plays you. (imdb)” It just gets me everytime.  Both actors are on point and the real world locations just make this movie so entrancing.

4. Ronin(1998 Robert De Niro, Jean Reno)  The grimy true-to-life feel of this spy/action flic feels so real; the action so crisp and quick and the actors so collected.  I’ve watched this film more times than I can count and it never gets old.

5. True Lies (1994 Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis)   Don’t laugh, but do ;)   This movie does so well at what it set out to do.  James Cameron leads this crew of lead actors in this unforgettable and quirky look at the spy world.  Laugh one minute, hold onto your seat the next…s

So, just in case everyone thinks this is just going to be another James Bond Lifestyle page…. we are not.  As much as I think Remmert Van Braam has done an awesome job of that site, it’s not where we’re going with this blog.  We will be throwing up reviews of the latest and greatest spy trailers and flics but it’s not going to be the meat of this idea.  I want people to see real video of people in real places doing really fun and cool things related to all the espionage material out there.  This of course is going to crossover with a lot of other themes, such as survivalism, snowboarding and skiing, rock climbing,  and all those extreme sports that have taken place in the films.  We also want to look at cyphers and codes, and the gadgets you may have seen Jennifer Garner running around with in Alias (yes, I like Alias and rank it up there for it’s fun and entertainment factor).  If you’re not aquainted with firearms… and not all of us are – how do you load and use a Walther PPK and where do you go if you want to know how to use said PPK to protect yourself in the best way possible (without a 007 license of course)?!  And this site won’t be complete without delving into some of the gourmet delicasies like caviar that Bond so loves to chow down on in between martinis and champagne.  And when you’re heading out for a job or a date, you’d better know how to dress (Real men know how to dress and should you!).  This is a long term adventure that I hope will entertain and inspire other people in their love of spy flic material.

….eat, travel, fight, drive, gadgets, girls…

Welcome to ‘live like a spy!’  This blog will be following my obsession with Espionage, Hitman and Thief movies and all the great stuff that goes along with those themes.

The main goal will be follow me as I tackle the subjects of spy movie locations, cars, gadgets,  and survivalism.  Yes, it’s going to be big!

Ever wanted to know what route Bourne took through Europe?  Where was  Never Say Never Again filmed?!  Let’s actually go there and see what it’s all about.  Always wanted to drive an Aston Martin? – Let’s go drive one.  Know how to shoot a gun or jump out of an airplane?  Know how to tie a tie and get fit for a tux? Let’s video it all and see how far we can go with this!

We’re going to start things off with a massive list of movies and television series that will have your inner spy on the lookout.
